I Don't Like Mondays

The lead track holds a deep place in the band's history. When our drummer Steve was ten years old, his father brought a library record home. Steve dropped the needle on I Don't Like Mondays and played it obsessively, learning every word and melody. That exact moment sparked his lifelong obsession with music. This cover pays homage to that original spark, combining our signature heavy grit, melodic complexity, and raw, satirical edge.

Acoustic layers and orchestral strings drive this cinematic piece, showcasing a different side of our sound. We titled it #3 as a small nod to how The Beatles handled Revolution. The song explores loyalty and staying the course together, themes reflected in the accompanying music video.

The footage follows a journey to Anfield to see Liverpool FC play Newcastle. It captures a different type of unconditional love through the highs and lows, from the motorways and the first sight of the pitch to the roar of YNWA and celebrating Diogo Jota's life on 20 minutes. Fortunately, this trip was a huge high.

B-Side: The Drugs Don't Work

Our take on The Verve classic is a raw reimagining. Built around a guitar track originally designed to test mic placement, we added vocals, drums, and orchestral synth layers to bring the recording to life. We recorded this for our cousin, Martin, who appears on the cover art. It is a recording that holds deep, personal significance for the whole band.

The wait is over. Ice Cream Song is now available on all good streaming platforms, and quite a few rubbish ones too. Recorded in a home studio in Winchester, this is high-octane indie-punk at its most authentic.

The Sextion returns. This PlasticSole subdivision, featuring bassist Jamie, guitarist Simon, and drummer Steven, follows their June 2025 debut, Billionaires & Presidents, with a high-octane blast of indie-punk energy.

Ice Cream Song is a frantic, tongue-in-cheek commentary on the souring of relationships. It juxtaposes the sweet imagery of childhood treats with the biting reality of personal frustration. Musically, it blends aggressive, distorted guitar riffs with a relentless, driving rhythm section, creating a sound that is both melodic and abrasive.

The inevitable, almost ceremonial, post-Yule fever dream finds its kinetic anthem in “Warren T,” a genuinely singular output designed to accompany the frantic Boxing Day 2025 search for product documentation and receipts. It's a sly, two-fingered salute to seasonal consumerism, continuing the excellent tradition initiated by last year's festive chaos. The complex soundscape is the product of the minds of Jamie Blackman and Simon Brindle. This track is built upon a raw, spontaneous vocal improvisation recorded over a decade ago. Simon recently stumbled across this original, one-take audio artifact and transformed the layered rhythms and vocalisations into this fully realized, kinetic studio track.

PlasticSole, the band that mixes proper indie pop with massive hard rock, is dropping the new single, Yard Rat Boys. It’s a blitz of noise and a pure statement of style and attitude. Get ready for the chorus that sticks: "Sound off, sound off, the Yard Rat Boys / Smash it, grab it, loot it, steal".

The cover art tells the story. Drummer Steven Brindle shot this vision, a knot of silhouettes against the urban decay of the old Wolverton Railway Yard buildings, just before the track's live debut at The Craufurd Arms. This image, a perfect sign of the times, immediately became the visual signature for the new single; it couldn't have been anything else. The song's swagger is fully captured in that striking monochrome photograph.

"Billionaires & Presidents" by The Sextion (a sub-division of PlasticSole) - A Rapid-Fire Commentary on Power

"Billionaires & Presidents" is a cynical and critical commentary by The Sextion (a sub-division of PlasticSole) on the close, often corrupt, relationship between powerful political figures (Presidents) and wealthy individuals (Billionaires and Oligarchs). The track implies a system where these elites mutually benefit at the expense of ordinary people.

What makes this track even more remarkable is its spontaneous creation. It was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in an astonishing four hours! The spark ignited at 11:00 AM during a rehearsal setup for an upcoming evening gig at the Amersham Arms in London on September 6th.

Our bass player and drummer started jamming the verse and chorus, and in a simultaneous moment of inspiration, both declared, "Let's ditch the rehearsal, let's record and release that today instead!" By 3:00 PM, the track was complete, a raw and immediate expression of political frustration.

This month we're releasing an EP of a previously thought lost recording from almost 11 years ago!  In March of 2014 we played a massive set in the Eight Belles pub in Bletchley.  Today, we're releasing the highlights of that set as an EP, Live at The Eight Belles.  Since we released a live album of our own material at the end of last year, most of the EP is cover songs we learned specially for the occasion, which, as you will noitice is a tribute to the one and only Sir Paul McCartney.  Quite frankly, we surprised ourselves just how good they were!

The PlasticWolf Project: A Year Later

A year has passed since PlasticSole and Broken Wolf first joined forces at Robannas Studios in Birmingham. On Sunday, 20th October 2024, the two bands returned to the legendary studio to record not one, but two iconic tracks.

This time, they tackled Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town" and Black Sabbath's "Paranoid". The choice of songs pays homage to the rich musical heritage of Birmingham, the birthplace of heavy metal.

The recording session was intense and exhilarating. Both bands brought their A-game, and we are proud of the results.
