The Return

The wait is over. Ice Cream Song is now available on all good streaming platforms, and quite a few rubbish ones too. Recorded in a home studio in Winchester, this is high-octane indie-punk at its most authentic.

The Sextion returns. This PlasticSole subdivision, featuring bassist Jamie, guitarist Simon, and drummer Steven, follows their June 2025 debut, Billionaires & Presidents, with a high-octane blast of indie-punk energy.

Ice Cream Song is a frantic, tongue-in-cheek commentary on the souring of relationships. It juxtaposes the sweet imagery of childhood treats with the biting reality of personal frustration. Musically, it blends aggressive, distorted guitar riffs with a relentless, driving rhythm section, creating a sound that is both melodic and abrasive.

Choose Your Flavour

We are offering three distinct ways to consume this track:

  • Original Mix: The raw, unedited version. Genuinely authentic and unfiltered.
  • The Shirehorses Mix: A nod to Mark and Lard's legendary comedy project. Every profanity is replaced with a classic "beep," capturing that specific late-90s radio parody vibe.
  • Radio Edit: Our radio-ready version. The edits here are subtle and smooth, making it suitable for airplay without losing the song’s punchy momentum.

The Sextion remains committed to the PlasticSole ethos: diverse sounds, straightforward communication, and music that refuses to be pinned to a single genre. This is indie-rock at its most visceral.
