We are thrilled to present our latest release, "Where Do You Go?" - the eighth instalment in our 12 Songs in 12 Months campaign.

This one started off as an acoustic guitar and vocal demo, recorded by Dan in a living room, whilst James Blackman, Simon John and Steve slept upstairs.  We've basically done what the The Beatles did with their last 3 singles (Now & Then, Real Love, and Free As A Bird) and each added our own parts (including an orchestra) to form the finished product.  Really cool process.

On October 15th 2023 PlasticSole and Broken Wolf teamed up to embark on a wild musical journey to accept a special challenge by Something Else Podcast. 💥

We took over a room at the legendary Robannas Studios in Birmingham, armed with our instruments and determination, ready to create some magic.

Inspired by the legends Brian May and Eddie Van Halen on the awesome Star Fleet Project, we set out to cover Judas Priest's "Breaking The Law", in a nod to the city and the delight at that song's unexpected appearance in the catchy KFC adverts. 🍗

Song 7 of our 12 songs in 12 months campaign, boy does time fly!

One of our beloved tracks, Tomorrows You Know, is making a grand return!  This song holds a special place our hearts - it's one of our oldest and dearest, a track we used to kick off our live shows with, as you can see here .

The original version was a bit of a hidden gem on our " Notice to the Parish Council " EP, but its catchy tune demanded the spotlight, so we decided it was time to give it a fresh spin, updating the sound and vibe to match where we are today!

What an incredible day it was! We had the immense pleasure of joining forces with the talented lads from  Broken Wolf  and  Something Else Podcast  for an unforgettable jamming and recording session. The energy in the room was off the charts!

Drawing inspiration from the grandiose multi-part compositions of legendary artists like Paul McCartney & Wings' "Band on the Run" and Radiohead's "Paranoid Android," we've crafted a 3-minute sonic journey for you to enjoy.

"Instamatic Camera" delves into the complexities of relationships and the struggles of navigating through deception and compromise. The introspective lyrics express a sense of detachment and denial, with the narrator refusing to take blame for the emotional turmoil caused by lies and manipulation.

Despite facing challenges head-on and refusing to compromise their values, the narrator acknowledges the difficult reality of holding back the waves of uncertainty. The chorus's repetition of "The instamatic camera never lies" emphasizes the notion that the truth is captured through candid moments, not in the facade of deception. It's a plea for authenticity and transparency in relationships, refusing to accept a narrative that doesn't align with reality.

The artwork for this release is truly special. Captured in 2021, one of us was fortunate enough to witness a breathtaking sunset while staying in the spare bedroom of a dear friend. The resulting photograph that graces the cover, perfectly encapsulates the serendipity and beauty that permeates "Instamatic Camera".

Overall, "Instamatic Camera" is an emotionally charged song that confronts the complexities of relationships and the search for honesty amidst deception. PlasticSole's heartfelt delivery and thought-provoking lyrics create a captivating and relatable experience for listeners, making it a standout addition to their "12 Songs in 12 Months" project. The Something Else Podcast Goes Above and Beyond

We're not sure what we did to deserve it, but The Something Else Podcast has been overwhelmingly kind about our latest single, Nobody's Perfect.  The host, Ben, was nothing but complimentary, saying the song reminded him of "The Jam" and it sounds really "amazing!". 

We're honestly a little embarrassed by all the praise. We're just a small band from Milton Keynes, and we never expected to get such a warm reception from such a respected podcast.  But we're also incredibly grateful.  It means the world to us to know that our music is resonating with people.

Apparently, according to the presenter, we sound "familiar but original" and "very authentic", which of course we couldn't agree more with, and they had some lovely things to say about the music video we did with Noel Read Photography.
